As I have said and will always say, if you don’t know how to manage your money at anything you do you cannot be successful. This applies more so to the game of craps at . A good manager of his money will play and last longer even if he doesn’t know how to play well, but a good player and a good manager of his money is a tough combination to best, even if the dice are going against the player as he will not get excited and bide his time. Knowing that you must take odds on every bet you make, do not be like a player we had in a club I worked in Washington D.C. He would guess when to take odds on the number. He was putting his brain against a pair of celluloid dice and the dice would usually outwit him. Every time he didn’t take odds and the point was made he would shake his head and say, “No odds.” So that became his nickname”No Odds.” He comes out here to gamble and does the same thing guesses when to take odds and still shakes his head when the point is made and says, “No odds.” When Palm Springs was open there was a big shoe man that would gamble quite a bit in one club. They had a $100 limit but this wasn’t high enough for him, so they told him he could bet more but he must pay 5 per cent and if he wanted more odds that would be 5 per cent also. The shoe magnet said that that was fine.
