Numbers On A Roulette Wheel
Before I go on, I must tell you wheel players that any bet you make on the wheel arrives at the same percentage for the club. It doesn’t make any difference where or how you bet. The percentage will always be a 5-5/19 percent against you. Sounds funny but it is true.
Every wheel player has their own style of playing and their own numbers to bet on. Most good wheel players will bet what is called a section of numbers, five in a row or next to each other in the wheel head that spins around, like 0-2-14-35-23 or 17-32-20-7-11 so that if the ball should drop around one of these numbers and bounce out it might bounce into a number next to it in the same section. Some players will just bet on a couple of numbers, others will bet all over the layout, as we say. Just keep on betting any place until the ball starts to drop and they must stop. Had a woman player who would bet 20 to 25 numbers every roll and if a number showed she didn’t bet on, she would and say, “I knew t, I should have had that number.” After awhile I told her to bet on every number - and she would have them all. She did. I told her that she would lose 2 chips on every bet she made as she was betting 38 chips and only getting a total of 36 chips back. She said, “I don’t care. I am at least getting a winner.”
Wheel Winners
There are winners at a wheel. It is just like any other ‘game. Somebody must win sometime. In a club on the strip In Vegas two fellows were playing the wheel and were winning about $40,000. The bosses made them quit as they thought they were doing something to the wheel or had done something to the wheel earlier as some wheels aren’t covered when not in use. So the bosses took the wheel head off and examined it from top to bottom. They also had the wheel leveled to see if it was off balance. W They couldn’t find anything wrong but are still convinced that something was done to them. The same thing happened in a downtown club. A player won $58,000 and the club did the same thing. Examined the wheel from top to bottom and couldn’t find anything wrong. These players were just running lucky and taking advantage of their luck. They were betting 10 numbers a roll and hitting them. Many a gambler will say that if the wheel is off or not balanced right, it will favor certain numbers.
Wheel Direction
Where they got that idea from, I don’t know. Even if a wheel is off what difference does it make? When the ball is spun, it is going in one direction and the wheel is spinning in the opposite direction. When the ball drops nobody is going to say where or what number the ball is going to drop into. Many a time on boats that had wheel games at , the wheel would be at a 45 degree angle and the ball wouldn’t drop in the low side. As long as the ball and the wheel are spinning in the opposite direction and it is a square wheel, your guess is as good as anybody’s where the ball will drop.
We had a player come in and he started to bet on Number 5. He started off with a $5 a roll, lost $100 then bet $10 a roll, lost another $100. Now he bet $25 on each roll and lost $5,200. The five hadn’t shown in 230 rolls. He walked out and we kept track to see when the 5 would show. It did 20 rolls later.
