A good rule to paste in your hat is never to play for money with one-way cards, i.e., cards whose backs bear pictures or designs that are not symmetrical from top to bottom. During play, a cheat can arrange such a deck so that high cards are right side up, low cards upside down. I know it sounds obvious, but card cheats know from experience that the obvious device is sometimes the one least likely to be suspected. Most players dismiss this idea, if it does occur to them, as too obvious and primitive a device to be used. Therefore the cheat, well aware of this, sometimes uses it; and a quick shuffle, after turning half the pack end for end, will destroy the arrangement and the evidence if anyone shows any sign of suspicion.

Jackpot Machine

How to Determine a Ready Casino Machine

To determine whether a Slot Machine is ready to payoff its Jackpot, we must know seven things.
(1) The Jackpot. This you can spot from the machine itself. If it’s a double Jackpot machine, you’re only interested in the larger of the two Jackpot totals.
(2) How many reels on the machine.
(3) How many symbols on each reel. This is obtained from your computations of “clocking” the machine.
(4) The chance of hitting the Jackpot. Calculated by multiplying the number of reels by the number of symbols per reel (as per our “clocking” instructions).
(5) The adjustment factor for hitting a Jackpot. This is a mathematical number that has already been calculated for you. It is 0.7. You use this number to multiply the chance of hitting number as in our earlier instructions in order to obtain the true mathematical chance of hitting a Jackpot.
(This factor has been developed by mathematicians using very complicated formulas. Please accept it as correct)
(For example, if you’re dealing with a 22 symbol, 3-reel machine, the chance of hitting a Jackpot is calculated by multiplying 22 x 22 x 22 = 10,648. Then by multiplying this number by the adjustment factor.10,648 x 0.7 = 7,454)
(6) Cost per pull! This is determined by the “clocking” procedure. In our example, the cost per pull was 7.5%. You express this by a whole number (0.075).
(7) The actual cost of playing for the casino Jackpot. This is determined by multiplying the adjusted chance of hitting number from Step 115 above by the cost per pull of Step #6. In this case: 7454 x 0.075 = 559
You can now determine the favorability factor. This is calculated by dividing the Jackpot you’re playing for by twice the “Actual Cost” of Step #7 above.
For example, if the Jackpot of our hypothetical machine is $4476, you calculate the favorability factor by multiplying 559 x 2 = 1118. Then dividing this into 4476. (4476 1118 = 4) Any factor greater than 2 is very well worth playing the machine.
What this you’re playing for by twice the “Actual Cost” of Step #7 above. means is that by playing this machine, you can expect to win four times as much as you lose. If the factor were 1, you could expect to break even, winning as much as you lose. Of course, the higher this figure, the better the machine and the more chance you have of winning the Jackpot.

Determination

Once you have determined that the “favorability factor” is greater than 2 (the higher the better), you can proceed to play the machine with the expectation of a profit. You must now play the machine for the jackpot and must deposit the maximum number of coins required. This is the point where playing with a team or partners may be desirable because you may have to play the machine for many hours before the Jackpot hits. But if you’ve done your clocking procedure and your calculations correctly and have derived a high favorability factor number, you can expect a profit in direct relation to the size of the factor number.
All of the above only pertains to single jackpot progressive Slot Machines. Double jackpot machines should be played a little differently. There are two ways to approach the problem of double Jackpots. (1) Take the average of the two jackpots and use this figure for your jackpot amount, 1/1 on your worksheet. For example, if a particular machine has a high jackpot of $7340 and a low jackpot of $252, the average of the two is 7340 + 252 = 7592 . 2 = 3796. (2) Play only for the larger jackpot. Because all of these double progressive machines require 3 to 5 coins to win the super jackpot, there is a way to insert the coins that enable you to shoot for the larger jackpot with most of your coins.
